Diskperf Not Installed in Professional

The information about the monitored computer cannot be collected by the Windows parameter sets unless the Disk Performance Statistics Driver (Diskperf) is running on the monitored computer.

Disk Performance Statistics Driver, by default, is installed above the fault tolerant driver, Ftdisk.sys, in the I/O Manager disk driver stack. In order to determine whether Ftdisk has been started in your configuration, you can use the Devices Control Panel.

Workaround

To run Diskperf on the monitored computer (Windows), follow the steps mentioned below. However, to run Diskperf on the monitored Windows computer, you must already be a member of that computer's Administrator's local group.

Open a Command Prompt window by pressing WINDOWS + R hot keys and typing cmd or simply by going to the Start Menu on the taskbar and searching Command Prompt.
Following are some of the commands that let you enable disk counters. Execute any of these commands as per your requirements.
- diskperf -y: enables the counters on a standard disk configuration
- diskperf: shows if the disk counters are enabled or disabled on the machine
- diskperf -yv: enables disk counters on mirror and stripe sets and other non-contiguous partition sets. This command, when executed, installs the performance statistics driver below the fault tolerant driver in the I/O stack
- diskperf -n: allows the user to disable all disk counters

Important

Type the command name diskperf followed by the name of the computer on which the counters need to be installed to run diskperf on a remote computer. For example: diskperf//computername
In order to monitor the physical disk in disk configurations that include Ftdisk, run the diskperf -yv command on the Command Prompt window.

For the changes to take affect, restart the computer.
