Unable to Connect to Server Node for Windows XP/ Windows 7 Machine
In a case where the server nodes that are running the Windows operating system do not have remote monitoring enabled on them, an error message occurs saying 'Unable to Connect to Server Node for Windows'.
In that case, you can enable remote monitoring by following the steps mentioned below:
WINDOWS XP
Run Windows Explorer on the target Windows XP computer.
Go to Tools. Under Tools, you will find Folder Options. Click on it.
Click on the View tab.
Un-check the Use Simple File Sharing check box. Click OK.

If the
systemroot
of the machine is on an NTFS partition, then you must provide at least READ access to the files mentioned below:%SystemRoot%/System32/Perfc009.dat
%SystemRoot%/System32/Perfh009.dat
You need to provide at least READ access to the files mentioned below on the remote computer:
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/SecurePipeServers/winreg
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows NT/CurrentVersion/Perflib
After the mentioned files have been granted READ access, reboot your Windows XP machine.
Note
Users having administrative rights on the remote computer can also view all remote counters.
WINDOWS 7
In case you are using Windows 7 and still cannot view remote counters, then you need to enable File, Folder and network sharing options.
From the Start Menu, go to Control Panel.
From the list of options in the Control Panel, select Network and Sharing center
Click on Change Advanced Sharing Settings
Select Turn on network discovery under the Network Discovery option
Select the Turn on file and printer sharing option under the File and printer sharing option
Under the Public folder sharing tag, select Turn on sharing so anyone with network access can read and write files in Public folders
-To save the changes made, click on Save changes.
