Computer's Name Not Found
While trying to monitor a remote server node from an account that does not have administrative privileges, you may receive a 'Computer Name Not Found' error message.
Workaround
Follow the steps mentioned below to enable remote monitoring on the server node for Windows NT machine.
- The following mentioned files need at least READ access to enable remote monitoring. Grant them READ access.
%windir%/system32/PERFCxxx.DAT
%windir%/system32/PERFHxxx.DAT
Note
The best language ID for the system is xxx. For instance, 009 is the language ID for English.
- The following registry keys need READ access. Grant READ access using REGEDT32 on the remote computer.
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows NT/CurrentVersion/Perflib and all sub keys under that key.
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/CurrentControlSet/Control/SecurePipeServers/winreg
Important
If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, it can cause severe system-wide issues. To resolve these problems, you will have to reinstall the Windows operating system. So, use this tool wisely.
